Most SPAVs have either 10-watt or 20-watt output. SPAVs with 10-watt performance ventilate up to 1200 square feet of attic space, but most residential attics are larger and this means you will need to install multiple units. All Broan SPAVs have 20-watt output that ventilates up to 1600 sq.ft.- the average size of most residential attics. Better performance and superior features mean it takes only ONE Broan SPAV to do the job of TWO lower watt models. Although they may cost less, after you add together the purchase price of buying several units, the additional installation time, not to mention additional penetrations in your roof, the Broan SPAV actually can cost LESS while delivery superior performance. Once you know the facts you’ll see why a Broan SPAV is a better choice.
The Broan Difference:
- Broan SPAV’s use specially designed 20 watt solar panels with tempered glass that won’t delaminate as so many other models can even when hit with golf-ball size hail! Because they are so sensitive, they will work from dawn to dusk and there is not need to angle the panel towards the sun creating an unattractive roof line. Many models suggest doing this for best performance, this is only necessary if the panel cannot efficiently capture the sun’s energy.
- Broan SPAV’s use high-end DC motors with replaceable brushes
for long life. Many SPAVs on the market use brushless motors to
keep costs down.
- Variable voltage motor automatically adjusts the fan speed based on the amount of available sun light.
- Sealed ball-bearings provide increased protection against motor wear.
- Zinc plated, steel motor housing provides protection against corrosion.
- Dynamically balanced motor virtually eliminates harmonic noise and damaging vibration.
- Broan SPAVs use a UV-Enhanced, ABS plastic housing
engineered for stability.
- Color-dyed plastic resists scratches.
- Low 7-1/2” profile integrates well with shingles.
- Hurricane rated to 140 mph.
